2020 Leadership Conference Award Descriptions 


Outstanding Chapter Leader Award - This award recognizes a professional who has demonstrated perseverance and dedication to the CAC mission through the recent COVID-19 pandemic in their role with an NCA-Accredited State Chapter Organization of Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs). Through the nominee’s efforts, the success of a State Chapter’s mission to meet the critical needs of its statewide CAC movement has been ensured even through uncertain times. The nominee has facilitated or helped to lead movement-building, and is recognized for their essential leadership attributes and contributions to the strength of their state’s CACs.

  • Who is eligible? Any person who has, in their professional capacity, led a significant and outstanding response by a State Chapter Organization to the needs of its member CACs during the COVID-19 pandemic. The nominee must be directly associated with an NCA Chapter, as a leader, board member, or member of staff.
  • Criteria for selection:
    • Exhibited outstanding leadership qualities serving with a State Chapter Organization resulting in continuity of service, provision of needed resources, and operational readiness of Children's Advocacy Centers in their state to overcome challenges resulting from the pandemic.
    •  Took significant action to promote the work of Children's Advocacy Centers statewide.

Outstanding Children's Advocacy Center Award - This award recognizes a professional who has demonstrated perseverance and dedication through the recent COVID-19 pandemic to their Children’s Advocacy Center and the community they serve. Through the nominee’s efforts, the continuation of essential services to children and families has been ensured even through uncertain times. The nominee has facilitated or participated in teamwork and is recognized for his or her essential leadership attributes and contributions to the process.

  • Who is eligible? Any person who has, in their professional capacity at a Children’s Advocacy Center, led a significant and outstanding response COVID-19 pandemic that ensures the safety and well-being of the MDT and the community. The nominee must be directly associated with a Children’s Advocacy Center, as a leader, board member, MDT member, or member of staff.
  • Criteria for selection: 
    • Exhibited outstanding leadership qualities resulting in continuity of service, provision of needed resources, and operational readiness of their Children's Advocacy Center as they overcame challenges resulting from the pandemic.
    • Took significant action to ensure the safety and well-being of the children in their community was paramount during the recent and on-going pandemic.

Outstanding Policymaker Award This award recognizes a lawmaker or public policymaker who has demonstrated perseverance and dedication through the recent COVID-19 pandemic to the Children’s Advocacy Center model and the community in which they serve. Through the nominee’s efforts, the continuity of essential services to children and families has been ensured even through uncertain times.  

  • Who is eligible? Any Senator, Member of Congress, state legislator, or state or local policymaker who has made several significant public policy contributions to assist Children’s Advocacy Centers during the pandemic.
  • Criteria for selection
    • Demonstrated complete support of the mission of Children’s Advocacy Centers.
    • Demonstrated initiative in raising awareness of issues facing abused children, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Children’s Advocacy Center role in advocating for the best interests of the child and the community.
    • Took significant action to promote Children’s Advocacy Centers, and meet their need for additional resources, so that centers can continue to serve families during the pandemic.
