2020 Leadership Conference FAQs

Do I need re-register for the December conference?
No, all June registrations were transferred to December. Please email leadershipconference@nca-online.org if you have edits to your registration.

What if I want to transfer a registration for someone who can no longer attend?
Transfer of registration fees to another person attending LC 2020 may be done without penalty, at any time upon notification to the Conference Coordinator. Please email leadershipconference@nca-online.org with the new attendee name, workshop selections, and dietary restrictions.

If I have not yet paid my early bird registration fees, when are they due?
Early bird registration ($650) ended February 29, and payment is due by August 3, 2020. If payment is not received by August 3, 2020, your registration will be canceled, and you will need to re-register under the general registration fee of $700 for members and $750 for non-members. We have eliminated the late registration fee this year.

Will I need to rebook my hotel rooms if I already booked them for the June dates?
Attendees who made reservations within the room blocks at the Renaissance and Courtyard hotels should have received reservation update emails the week of May 4th from the hotel.

  • The Courtyard transferred June reservations to December, and sent guest reservation updates via email. Please contact the hotel directly to make edits or to cancel your December reservation if needed.
  • The Renaissance canceled June reservations, and attendees received an email notification of the cancellation. The rebook link within the email allowed guests to rebook for December. We are aware that the rebook link did not work for some guests, so NCA sent the reservation link again to June reservations on Wednesday, May 13. Please contact the hotel to make a reservation.

What is the hotel reservation cancellation policy?

  • The Courtyard: All reservations must be accompanied by a one-night room deposit plus state and local tax, or guaranteed with a major credit card. In the event a guest wish to cancel a reservation, the deposit is refundable if the notice is received 48 hours prior to the day of arrival and a cancellation number is provided.
  • The Renaissance: Cancellations received prior to July 10 will receive a full refund. On Friday, July 10, 2020, the credit cards on file for Renaissance reservations will be charged a (1) one-night, non-refundable deposit for each reservation. Any cancellation received after July 9, 2020, will result in the deposit to be forfeited.

2020 Leadership Conference Cancellation Policy

Nearly all of our current registrants have decided to plan on continuing to join us in December. However, we understand some attendees simply cannot attend. To address these uncertain times, particularly for those who may have health vulnerabilities, we have tried to be as generous as possible with our revised cancellation policy.

Policy revised May 29, 2020
Registration cancellations must be received by email to Training Coordinator Nicole Wilbon (leadershipconference@nca-online.org). Cancellations received by NCA on or before July 9, 2020, will receive a full refund. Cancellations received after July 9, 2020, but on or before November 2, 2020, will be refunded at 80% of the registration fee paid. Refunds will not be given for cancellations received after November 2, 2020 or for participants who register but do not attend.  In the event the conference is canceled by NCA at any time due to a stay-at-home order or restrictions on mass gatherings issued by authorities in D.C., all registrants will receive a full registration refund. All eligible full refund requests received by July 9 will be issued starting July 15, 2020. Eligible partial refunds will be issued after the conclusion of the conference.

Transfer of registration

Transfer of registration fees to another person attending Leadership Conference 2020 may be done without penalty, at any time upon notification to the Conference Coordinator.

Grantee attendance requirement

With the understanding that some grantees may have health vulnerabilities making it impossible to travel or gather safely, NCA is waiving grantee attendance requirements for the 2020 Leadership Conference. Non-attendance will not impact future grant eligibility.

In the event that NCA cancels the 2020 Leadership Conference due to a stay-at-home order or an order restricting mass gatherings, reimbursements for cancellation fees may be submitted under Office of Justice Programs (OJP) COVID-19 cancellation guidance. OJP has not permitted cancellation fees to be treated as an allowable expense under federal awards in any other circumstance.

If the conference is moved to a virtual platform, grantees are expected to attend, and registration fees will be transferred.
